Until now, the magic hidden within Te Puia has remained a secret that only Mother Nature has truly been exposed to. For the first time, the geothermal valley is revealed under night skies, providing a multi-sensory experience that can not be replicated anywhere else in the world.

Meet with your guide at the Main Entrance to Te Puia under our waharoa (gateway). After a brief kōrero (talk), you will be escorted to Te Heketanga-ā-Rangi, our superbly carved and architecturally designed, Māori feature.

Guided by torch, you will begin your journey into Te Puia to explore the valley, visit many of our world-renowned landmarks, and hear the stories of Māori myths, passed down for generations. You will see carvings throughout your visit and if you’re lucky, hear the call of our Native Kiwi.

Walk down our rarely accessed pathway, where a traditional Māori dessert will be shared with you in front of Ngāraratuatara, an impressive, boiling cooking pool. See recently birthed mud pools and hear the sounds of our native wildlife, deep in Te Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley.

Our guides will take you on our waka (vehicle) and begin your journey toward the final feature of the evening.

The beauty and power of Pōhutu, the largest geyser in the southern hemisphere, will connect your wairua (spirit) with the beauty of papatūānuku (Mother Earth).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Walking shoes and a moderate-medium level of fitness are needed and can be subject to the weather.

BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL.
